When FIXING YOUR 1991, 1992, 1993, and/or 1994 Mercury Capri ALTERNATOR BELT PROBLEMS: SMOKING, SQUEALING & BREAKING!! In brief, this makes a whole lot of sense if you are a SPECIALIST in these cars and have done exhaustive research on this problem; Capris were equipped with different alternators (Mostly Bosch for those built in 1991 and Mitsubishi thereafter), and therefore required different pulleys. To complicate matters NOT ALL MITSUBISHI (REMANUFACTURED or Original) ALTERNATORS were identical with respects to the pulley dimensions. After extensive research, MCP is now offering EXCLUSIVE, BRAND New, CUSTOM MADE, MITSUBISHI Alternator Pulleys for all Mercury Capri Models built between 1/29/1992 - 12/1994 that are, of course, equipped with a Mitsubishi alternator. We have discovered that many Capri owners that replace their alternators with a new aftermarket unit, and/or a re-manufactured unit, have frequent belt breakage due to incorrect alternator pulleys being installed on these new alternators. Additionally, we have determined that although the MAJORITY replacement Mitsubishi alternators come with 15mm shaft there are aftermarket manufacturers fitting their units with 17MM pulleys. Therefore prior to ordering a replacement pulley, it is absolutely necessary to measure the diameter of your alternator shaft to determine if it HAS EITHER A 15MM OR A 17MM SHAFT. NOTE: THE 15MM PULLEY IS SOLD AS A TWO (2) PIECE, REPLACEMENT, PULLEY -- YOU MUST RE-USE YOUR SPACER. CONVERSELY, THE 17MM PULLEY IS A ONE (1) PIECE (SOLID STEEL), REPLACEMENT, PULLEY. kindly use the drop-down menu provided to select the correct pulley. The 17MM pulleys are more costly, so a $29.99 "up-charge" will be applied to your invoice at check-out.
